2024 WSMTA State Recitalist Competition Entry Form
Entry Deadline: Saturday, January 20, 2024
*No late entries will be accepted
Competition Date: Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024
(Students’ specific performance times will be announced after scheduling)
Location: Steinway Piano Gallery
Recital Hall
Competition Guidelines:
-
Winners of the competition are required to perform at the WSMTA Conference in June.
- There is no level limitation for students entering the competition.
- Competitors will perform only one piece that must be memorized.
- Competitors must play 2 memorized solos during the educational portion of the Music Artistry Program (MAP).
- A clean copy of the music (no marks of any kind) must be given to the judge. No photocopies allowed.
- It is highly recommended that selected pieces be no longer than 5 minutes due to the time limitations at conference recitals. Students will not be stopped if the piece runs a little over 5 minutes.
- The competition will be open to an audience.
- Competitors will not receive oral or written comments from the adjudicator
- Competition fee for each student is $20.00
- Results will be emailed to teachers with competing students as soon as judging is final.
- However: in keeping with WSMTA rules, results of the competition will NOT be final until the educational MAP performances are completed, and the Visiting Artist has confirmed that the selected winners performed two memorized solo pieces during the Music Artistry Program week.
Once the schedule is finalized by the State Recitalist Chair, NO CHANGES MAY BE MADE TO PERFORMANCE ORDER, OR TO THE REPERTORY ENTERED ON THE REGISTRATION FORM.
