Benefits of Membership

  • Networking opportunities with area music teachers. Being a member is one of the best ways to get referrals for new students.
  • Gain valuable knowledge about teaching and studio management through educational programs at monthly meetings and district, state and national conferences.
  • Performance opportunities for students include WSMTA Music Artistry Program, Celebrate Music Festival and Community Holiday Performances.
  • Members may use the SMTA Steinway piano at the Recital Hall at Holy Names Music Center for recitals and other performances (fee applies). Steinway Piano Gallery and Music City also have performance facilities available to members (fee applies).
  • Receive music publications containing a wide variety of topics regarding music education from the national, state and local associations.

Become a Member

To become a member of Spokane Music Teachers Association, join MTNA in the next section.  In the registration process, select Spokane as your chapter.  You will also become a member of these parent groups.

Certification

The WSMTA and MTNA Professional Certification Programs exist to improve the level of professionalism within the field of music teaching. Certification helps readily identify competent music teachers within the community and provides these teachers with prestige, recognition and the potential for student recruitment and increased earning power. Teachers may obtain certification the state and national level.

Programs for Student Enrichment

Additional fees may apply for non-members.

Teachers can enter their students into the Music Literacy Program and the Music Artistry Program through the WSMTA website.

Teachers can enter their students into the Celebrate Music Festival and Holiday Music Performances through this website.
